Clyde Eugene "Pops" Moran, 79, of Dennison, Ohio and formerly of New Philadelphia died Monday, June 1, 2009 of a massive stroke at Aultman Hospital in Canton lovingly surrounded by his family.

Clyde was born on January 6, 1930, the son of the late John Arthur and Minnie (Peacock) Moran of New Philadelphia.

He attended Sacred Heart School and was a retired employee of the Masonite Corporation where he worked for over thirty years. He previously served in the U.S. Air Force.He was a founding member of the Tuscora Saddle Club.

He was preceded in death by his first wife of forty eight years, Carol Jean (Redman) Moran of New Philadelphia.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of six years, Ruth Moran. He is also survived by his sons, John "Dan" (wife, Carol) Moran of Canton and Richard (wife, Sherry) Moran of Dover; stepson, Chris "Kelly" Alexander of Malvern and the late James Dabney of Dennison; grandchildren, Melissa (husband, Dan) Slates of New Philadelphia, Denise (husband, Kelly) Santille of Hopedale, Kristopher Kelly "Bruz" (wife, Melissa "Missy") Moran of Dover and Brock Patrick Moran of Dover; step grandchildren, David Alexander of Columbus, and John Alexander of Minerva and Elyse (husband, Shawn) Steigerwald, Amanda and Samantha Dabney all of Panama Beach, Florida; great grandchildren, Kameron and Justice Moran of Dover, Hunter, Haley, and Emma Slates of New Philadelphia and Sara and Samuel Santille of Hopedale; brothers, John Moran of New Philadelphia, James (wife, Jean) Moran of Strasburg, and George (wife, Amelia) Moran of New Philadelphia; sisters, Dortha Moran Lang of Dover, Laura Moran Redman of New Philadelphia; half sister, Leona "Lee" Snyder of Massillon; deceased halfsisters, Genevieve Moran Smith of Cleveland, Betty Wilson of West Virginia, and Delena Moran Burton of Cleveland and deceased brothers, Robert Moran of Cleveland and half brothers, Charlie Moran of New Philadelphia and Daniel Moran of Cleveland.

Visitation will be Thursday, June 4, 2009 from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, 246 E. High Ave., New Philadelphia where a Christian Wake service will be held at 8:45pm. A public graveside service will be held Friday, June 5, 2009 at 1pm in the Evergreen Burial Park in New Philadelphia with Msgr. George J. Schlegel officiating. Following the services, a farewell dinner with be held in the home of his son and daughter in law, Rick and Sherry Moran, 600 W. 14th St., Dover, Ohio. "Pops" who was so lovingly called by all that knew him was a lover of horses and dogs, especially, his favorite dalmation, Spots. In his earlier years he loved to hunt deer with his sons. One of his greatest pleasures was his annual trips to Las Vegas with his son, Rick and family. One of the best times in his life was his trip to Cancun Mexico in 2008 with his family and friend, Adrian "Buddy" Deetz of Dover. He was instrumental in the remodeling and construction of Moran's Nite Club in Dover. His memory of being one of the greatest Irishman ever will remain in our hearts for all Eternity.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Food Pantry, c/o Salvation Army in New Philadelphia.
