Clyde R. Walters

Clyde R. Walters, 82, of Dennison, Ohio and a former Dover resident died in his home Wednesday, January 14, 2009 following an unexpected illness.

He was a Union Carpenter where he retired from Beaver Excavating in 1997. He worked many years for Gibbons & Grable at Canton.

Born February 21, 1926 in Kirby, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Glenn Russell and Florence (Burch) Walters.

Clyde was a member of Roxford United Methodist Church in Dennison. He was an avid golfer and could be often found at Green Valley Golf Course. He was a man of many talents including winemaking and gardening.

Following retirement, he and a friend, Herb Ballentine were known as "Old Geezer's Construction" where they performed small jobs. He and his wife Jane were also in the "Flakes" group. Clyde was a U.S. Army Air Corp. veteran having served during World War II.

He is survived by his wife, Jane (Schiffbauer) Walters with whom he would have celebrated sixty years of marriage on July 8: a son and daughter in law, David "Rusty" (wife, Tina) Walters of Dennison; daughter and son in law, Kim (husband, Ted) Arunski of Mesa, Arizona along with eight grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and two sisters.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Bucky Walters.

Funeral services celebrating Clyde's life will be held Monday, January 19, 2009 at 11am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory at Dover with Pastor Bob Mathias officiating. A reception will follow in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-4 & 6-8pm. Cremation will follow services.
