Clyde V. Dayton

Clyde V. Dayton, 86, of Strasburg, Ohio died Sunday, October 13, 2002 at Union Hospital following an extended illness.

Clyde retired from the Dover Conveyor Company and had previously been a welder for Union Metal Mfg. Company in Canton and the former Wallick Coal Company at Strasburg.

Born April 9, 1916 in Gilmore, Ohio, he was the last surviving child of the late Emory and Ocie Blanche Curby Dayton.

He had previously enjoyed fishing.

He is survived by his wife Gladys Heid Dayton with whom he celebrated 63 years of marriage on March 11.

He is also survived by two sons and one daughter

David (Roberta) Dayton, Joan Breniser and Thomas “Ted” (Shari) Dayton all of Strasburg.

Three grandchildren Eric Dayton, Rebecca Mitchell and Mandy Porter along with five great grandchildren.

A stepsister Ethel Duerr of Bolivar.

He was preceded in death by a son, Richard Dayton.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday at 11 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home at Strasburg with Rev. Gerald Schuessler officiating. Interment will be in the Grandview Union Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 6-8 pm.
