Connie S. Aeling, 67, of Columbus, died Tuesday, Feb. 16, in Mount Carmel East, following a long illness.
Born Jun. 19, 1942, in Dover, she was a daughter of Della M. (Frock) Sexton of Strasburg, and the late Raymond E. Sexton. Connie graduated from Strasburg High School in 1960, and married David J. Aeling on Oct. 29 of that year. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who especially enjoyed following her children's school and sporting activities when they were young, and later, those of her grandchildren.
Connie was a member of St. Philip the Apostle Church in Columbus. She loved playing Bingo as well as reading and traveling - she had visited every state in the union except Alaska.
In addition to her mother, Connie is survived by her husband, David; two sons, David J. (Theresa) Aeling II of Reynoldsburg, and Robert A. (Dorthey) Aeling of Columbus; seven grandchildren, Roby, Mayci, Zakery, Emilee, Tiffany, Brittany and Stephany Aeling; four step-grandchildren, Nicklaus Hubbell, Tim, Christine and Donald Guittar; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Brenda Pittman of Dover and Gail Sexton of Strasburg; three brothers, John (companion, Pat Deibel) Sexton of Dover, Edward (Robin) Sexton of Bolivar, and Jeffrey (Sheila) Sexton of Columbus; many nieces and nephews.
Besides her father, Connie was preceded in death by a sister, Debra Prince; and by a brother-in-law, Bryce Pittman.
Family and friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, 803 N. Wooster Ave., Dover, on Friday (today), Feb. 19, 5 8 p.m. There will be a Christian wake service Friday at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home. A funeral Mass will be held Saturday, Feb. 20, at 11 a.m., in St. Joseph Church, 613 N. Tuscarawas Ave., Dover, with Fr. Matthew N. Hoover officiating. Immediately following the Mass, there will be a luncheon in the St. Joseph Family Life Center.
