Coreen J. Gintz, 67, of New Philadelphia, died Tuesday, July 20, 2004, in Hennis Care Centre, Dover, following a brief illness.
Born March 9, 1937, in Dennison, she was a daughter of the late George and Alice Smith Emhoff. Coreen attended Dennison High School, and, on November 25, 1956, married Robert J. Gintz in Dennison. Coreen owned and operated the former Alpha Book Store of New Philadelphia, and for years was the assistant manager of the D & K Store in Monroe Mall. She was a previous member of Broadway United Methodist Church, New Philadelphia, and was a long-time Girl Scout leader. Coreen dearly loved her family, and especially enjoyed caring for her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Robert; a daughter, Loreen (George) Mercado of Mesa, AZ; four grandchildren, Amy (Tom) Harding of New Philadelphia, B.J. and Tabitha Malterer of Gainesville, GA, and Matthew Malterer of Mesa; a great-granddaughter, Addison Harding; sister, Joyce Raushenbach of Baytown, TX; many nieces and nephews, including Kay (Bob) Monastra of Canton, and Lisa (Jim) Holm of Baytown.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Alberta Thornton; a brother, Ernest Emhoff; and by an infant sister.
A service celebrating Coreen�(TM)s life will be held Friday, July 23, at 11 a.m., in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home, 246 E. High Ave., New Philadelphia, with her cousin, Rev. Chauncey Eggan, officiating. Entombment will in the Garden of Peace Mausoleum at Dover Burial Park.
