Cory R. Beitzel

Cory R. Beitzel, 44, of Bolivar passed away on Sunday, May 21, 2023 in the Community Hospice Truman House following an 8 year battle with brain cancer.

He was born on August 15, 1978 in Dover and was a son of Yvonne Belknap Beitzel of Nevada and Tim (Lori) Beitzel of Bolivar.  Cory was a 1998 graduate of Jewett Scio High School and received his Bachelor’s Degree from Salem University in West Virginia where he was a member of the basketball team.  Following his graduation, he was employed in the Oil Field sector until illness forced his retirement. Cory was an outdoorsman, who enjoyed fishing and deer hunting.  But most importantly, he was a tremendous husband and father who will be missed by his family.

In addition to his parents, Cory is also survived by his wife of 10 years, Katie Nelson Beitzel, whom he married on October 6, 2012; children, Lillian Beitzel of Strasburg, Mason and Brody Beitzel both of Bolivar; sister, Stacie Beitzel of Oregon; step brothers, Joshua Crosier of Athens and Jason Crosier of New Philadelphia.

Cremation has been entrusted to the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover.  The family will be holding a celebration of Cory’s life at a later date.  Those wishing to express their fondest memories of Cory may do so by visiting the online obituaries link on the funeral home’s website.
