Craig S. Ripley

September 5, 1960 — February 16, 2015

Craig S. Ripley, age 54, of New Philadelphia, died Monday, February 16, 2015, following an apparent heart attack.

Born September 5, 1960, in Dover, he was a son of Ray T. Ripley of New Philadelphia, and the late Rita Marie (Lanning) Ripley. Craig, who was also often called Rip, graduated from New Philadelphia High School in 1979, and attended Kent State University. He married the former Susan M. Dubravetz on July 18, 1997. Craig was a long-time employee for Fleming Foods of Massillon, and was currently an advisor for SpartanNash of Lima.

He was a loving husband to Susan and father to Rachel , Ryan and Tyler, and was very proud of his children's accomplishments - one of his fondest memories was that of walking his daughter down the aisle the day of her wedding. He enjoyed watching his sons grow, teaching them the lessons of life and helping coach his sons' basketball and soccer teams. Some of Craig's favorite pastimes were fishing in Canada and at Seneca Lake, as well as riding motorcycles and just hanging with friends. He was also a 25-year member and past Master of New Philadelphia Masonic Lodge 177.

In addition to his father, Ray, and his wife, Susan, Craig is survived by his daughter, Rachel (husband, Neal Phile) Ripley of Dover; his twin sons, Ryan and Tyler Ripley, at home; his sisters, Sue (husband, Kevin) Hegg of Smith Mountain, Virginia, Raeann Becker of Niles and Lynn (husband, Glen) Winemiller of Leesburg, Virginia; his brother, Scott (wife, Jill) Ripley of New Philadelphia; his four nieces and six nephews; his many, many good friends; and his little dog, Simon.

Family and friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover, on Saturday, February 21, 6 9 p.m. The New Philadelphia Masonic Lodge will conduct rites Saturday at 5:30 p.m. A funeral service will be held Sunday, February 22, at 1 p.m., in the funeral home with Pastor David Wing officiating. Immediately following the service, there will be a luncheon in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center on Boulevard in Dover. Burial will be later, following cremation, in New Philadelphia's Evergreen Burial Park. To sign an online guestbook and share a fond memory of Craig, please visit the obituaries link on the funeral home's website.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests that contributions in Craig's memory may be made to Susan Ripley, in care of Huntington Bank, 232, W. Third St., Dover, Ohio 44622 (or any Huntington Bank location) to benefit Ryan and Tyler's education.

Craig was a giving person, and he wanted his organs to be donated should anything ever happen to him, and his wishes have been followed.
