Curtis J. Schilling

Curtis J. Schilling, 87, formerly of Dolphin St., Beach City, Ohio died Sunday, October 10, 2004 in the Riverside Manor at Newcomerstown following a period of declining health.

He was a heavy equipment operator for many years and retired in 1981 from the Wilmot Mining Company.

Born May 1, 1917 in Dover, he was the son of the late Harry and Minnie Herman Schilling.

Curtis was a World War II U.S. Army Veteran. He was a longtime volunteer for the Fairless Food Cupboard. He was active in the St. Therese Catholic Church in Brewster. He enjoyed raising fruit trees and growing vegetables.

He is survived by his wife Dorothy Graef Schilling with whom he celebrated 63 years of marriage on June 10. He is also survived by three sons Ted (Janice) Schilling and Norman (Renee) Schilling both of Baltic; Roy (Barb) Schilling of Sugarcreek; Two daughters Elaine (Roger) Shelt of Strasburg and Rita (Larry) Haney of Uhrichsville; Eleven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; three sisters in law, Alice Zurcher of Brewster, Florence Trustdorf of Colorado and Donna Schilling of Dover along with many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Bruce Schilling, an infant daughter, three brothers, Jerome, Laverne, and Tom Schilling.

A funeral mass will be celebrated Thursday, October 14, 2004 at 1:30 pm in the St. Joseph�(TM)s Catholic Church in Dover with Fr. William Arnold officiating. Interment will be in the Dover Burial Park. Friends will be received Wednesday from 5-7 pm in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home in Dover where Christian Wake services will be held at 7pm.
