Cynthia L. "Cindy" Wood

Cynthia L. "Cindy" Wood, age 63, of New Philadelphia, passed away Friday, December 16, 2016, in Community Hospice's Truman House.

Born June 19, 1953, in Sewickley, Pennsylvania, she was a daughter of the late Robert R. and Marjorie R. Miller Rowe. Cindy moved with her family at a young age to Dover, and graduated from Dover High School in 1971. She relocated to Alaska in 1982, where she was employed by the Alaska Department of Transportation & Facilities. Cindy returned to Ohio last year because of illness and to be closer to family.

Survivors include her son, Scott Allen Wherley of Alaska; her sisters, Rebecca L. (Richard) Johnson and Deborah J. (D. Edward) Jones, both of Strasburg, and Amelia S. (Michael) Plunkett of Berlin Heights; and her several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Cindy was preceded in death by her daughter, Coleen Wood.

Cindy will be cremated. Family and friends are invited to call, visit and pay respects at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover, on Sunday, December 18, 2 4 p.m. Her ashes will be buried later in Pennsylvania.
