Dale I. Andreas, 88, of 211 Reeves Avenue, Dover, Ohio, passed away on September 12, 2002 at Union Hospital in Dover.
Dale was born on April 10, 1914 in Dover, Ohio and was the son of the late Howard and Neala Geltz Andreas. He graduated from Dover High School in 1933 and was a forward on the Dover High School basketball team that proceeded to win the State of Ohio Championship that year. He married Kathleen Harris of New Philadelphia on October 23, 1938. He was a Sergeant with the US Army from 1943 until 1946 and served with the 10th Mountain Division and Red Bull Division in Sicily and Italy.
He was a 39-year employee and foreman of the Marsh Lumber Company and Marlite Corporation in Dover. He was later employed by the Henry Company of Dover. Dale coached the Dover South School basketball team and was head of Junior Achievement for Dover High School for several years. Dale was a 32nd degree member of the Tuscarawas Chapter of the Masonic Lodge at Dover, Past Commander of the American Legion Post 205, a member of the Forty et Eight. Dale and Kathleen were long time members of the Dover South Moravian Church.
Dale is survived by his wife of 63 years, Kathleen Andreas. Other survivors include: sister Reba Andreas Kirk, 90, of Dover; daughter and son-in-law Kathie and Nathaniel “Bud” Judkins of Dover; son and daughter-in-law Dale and Janis Rinderknecht Andreas of The Woodlands, Texas, grandchildren Matthew Judkins and Fiancée Courtney Burkhart of Dover, Reba Judkins of Kent, Ohio, Derek and April Kramer Andreas of Dallas, Texas, Kyle Andreas of Austin, Texas and Trevor H. Andreas of The Woodlands, Texas.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 10:30 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home at Dover. Services will be lead by the Rev. William Rinderknecht of The Woodlands, Texas, formerly of Dover. Interment will be at Dover Burial Park where the Dover VFW will conduct military graveside services. Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday from 2-4 PM with Masonic services at 3:45 pm.
