Dale W. Grimm, 88, of Dover passed away on Friday, February 24, 2012 following a brief illness.
Born on November 5, 1923 in Dover, he was the son of the late Vernon and Marie Hartman Grimm. He attended Dover High School. On October 6, 1951, he married his wife, Martha J. Plummer, who preceded him in death. He is also preceded in death by a daughter, Phyllis Taulbee; grandson, Dan Grimm; sister, Doris Burkey; sister in-law, Kate Grimm; brother in-law, Robert Becker; and daughter in-law, Amy Grimm.
Dale honorably served our country in the United States Army during World War II. He retired from Jenei Drilling Company in Strasburg following many years of service. Before working at Jenei, he worked for DM Waltz Drilling and Everett Walt Drilling Company.
He was a member of the Dover Eagles Club. He enjoyed fishing and gardening, but most of all loved spending time with his grandkids.
He will be missed by his three sons; Bruce (Kim) Grimm of Summerville, South Carolina, Steven (Jane) Grimm of Dover, Tim Grimm of Dundee; daughter, Marla (Robert) Fisher of Dover; six brothers, Jack Grimm of Findlay, Gene (Margaret) Grimm of Florida, Tom (Eda) Grimm of Dover, Bob Grimm of Sparks, NV, Max (Marge) Grimm of Reno, NV, Russell "Jim" (Kay) Grimm of Dover; three sisters, June Becker of Dover, Jane (Dan) Mason of Dover, Nancy (John) Goss of Dover; along with 11 grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
A celebration of Dale's life will take place at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover on Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at 11:00 am with Pastor Dan E. Legg officiating. Following the service, the Dover VFW will conduct a military graveside service at Dover Burial Park. A meal will be served at the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center following the service of committal. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Tuesday, February 28, 2012 from 4-7 pm.
