Daniel E. Jones, 92, of Dover went home to be with his Lord and Savior Monday, January 31, 2005 following an extended illness.
He retired in 1978 from Greer Steel after 35 years of service.
Born January 24, 1913 in Dover he was a son of the late Daniel and Amanda Fulmer Jones Martin.
He was a member of First Lutheran Church in Strasburg, Zoar Gun Club, NRA, American Trap Association and the American Legion in Columbus. He was also a 1931 graduate of Dover High School and an Army veteran of WW II. Daniel enjoyed trap shooting, gardening and most of all spending time with his wife and family.
Daniel is survived by his loving wife, Evelyn Wallick Jones with whom he celebrated 63 years of marriage on December 6, 2004.
He is also survived by two daughters, Patricia (James) Bailey of Dover and Joy (David) Carpenter of Columbus; three grandchildren, Tammy (Joe) Elsen of Cincinnati, Heather (Jay) Herbert of Dover and Daniel Carpenter of Columbus; four great grandchildren; Monica, Carly, and Jason Herbert all of Dover and Katy Elsen of Cincinnati; many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Clyde and Billy Jones.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 4, 2005 at 1:00 pm in the First Lutheran Church at Strasburg with Pastor Andrew Mazak officiating. Interment will be at Grandview Union Cemetery in Strasburg. Friends can call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home in Dover on Thursday from 5-8 pm. In lieu of flowers the family would like memorial contributions made to Hospice of Tuscarawas County, First Lutheran Church in Strasburg or to the charity of one�(TM)s choice.
