Darl D. Huffman, 81, of Dover passed away Saturday, August 31, 2002 at the Hennis Care Center.
Born February 11, 1921 in Big Beaver, Lawrence County, Pennsylvania he was a son of the late George and Cora DeHass Huffman.
A resident of Dover for 55 years, he was a Staff Sergeant during WW II having served in the Aleutian Islands. He retired in 1978 from Shaffer Transportation and had also worked for Borden and Superior Dairies. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the American Legion of Wampum, Pennsylvania.
Darl is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary G. Lombardo Huffman, whom he married on June 7, 1947.
He is also survived by a son: Joseph A. (Terry) Huffman of Dover
Brother: Ronald (Sandra) Huffman of Florida
Two sisters: Cora Mae (Edward) DeGordon of Massillon
June (Clarence) Pitts of Massillon
Uncle: Delbert DeHass of Medina
Many nieces and nephews
He was also preceded in death by two brothers: George and Keith Huffman
Two sisters: Ruth Allman and Rebecca Thellman
A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, September 4, 2002 at 10:30 am in the St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. William Arnold officiating. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Dover where the Dover VFW will conduct military graveside services. Friends can call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home in Dover on Tuesday from 5-8 pm with Christian Wake services starting at 7:30 pm.
