David Alan Pruni, 55, of Dover died unexpectedly Tuesday, July 13, 2021 in his home.
He retired as a decorated SFC in the U.S. Army where he served for nearly 21 years. Among his medals were the National Service Defense Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal and the Meritorious Service Medal.
Born May 21, 1966 in Dover, he was the son of the late Steve and Adeline “Lee” Battista Pruni. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Anna Marie Pruni.
Dave was a 1984 graduate of Dover High School and was quarterback for the Dover Tornadoes. He attended Ohio University prior to his military career. He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dover and was a fan of many sports.
Dave is survived by his daughter, Lauren (husband, Michael) Staley of Indianapolis, Indiana; two brothers and a sister, Dr. Stephen (Shelagh) Pruni and Larry (Barb) Pruni both of Dover and Marianne (Jon) Gross of Bath, Ohio along with nieces and nephews, Stephen, Anthony, Micheil, Adele, and Joseph Pruni and Bradyn Nussbaum.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated on Monday, July 19, 2021 beginning at 1 pm in the St. Joseph Catholic Church at Dover with Fr. Jimmy Hatfield officiating. A private inurnment with military honors by the New Philadelphia VFW will take place at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.
