David C. Ball

David C. Ball, 63, a lifelong resident of Dover died Sunday, September 8, 2013 in his home lovingly surrounded by his family.

Dave was welder having retired from Republic Steel Company in Canton. He also owned and operated D.B. Saloon in New Philadelphia.

Born April 26, 1950 in Dover, he was the son of Florence M. (Oddi) Ball of Dover and the late Byron D. "Bud" Ball. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his beloved niece, Gina Harper.

David was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church at Dover. He graduated from Dover High School in 1968 and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Reserves for six years. He was a member of the Dover and New Philadelphia VFW Posts and the Dover Amvets. He enjoyed scuba diving with his nephew and nieces in the Florida Keys and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle.

In addition to his mother, Dave is survived by his brother Joe (Jean) Ball and sister, Cathy Harper both of Dover; his companion, Laurie Patrick, four nieces and a nephew, Michael Ball of Los Angeles, California and son Fenix; Angela (Jamie) Dixon of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and daughter, Gianna and Marissa Ball of Columbus; cousins, Dan English, Christine (Christopher) Helbling, David Helbling, and Sara (Adam) Studeny; four aunts, Theresa Doriche, Netta (Bill) English, Jayne Baker, and Mary Forsythe; his feline companion, Buddy and a special friend, Randy Mahaffey of New Philadelphia.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Friday, September 13, 2013 at 11am in the St. Joseph Catholic Church at Dover with Fr. Jimmy Hatfield officiating with a reception to follow in the St. Joseph Family Life Center. David will be cremated and will be laid to rest privately in the St. Joseph Calvary Cemetery at Dover. There are no calling hours.
