David E. Doutt, 76, of New Philadelphia and a long time Dover resident died Saturday, May 26, 2001 at Country Club Retirement Center following an extended illness.
He retired from Shenango after 39 years of service.
Born December 14, 1924 in Dover he was a son of the late Lester and Catherine Donohoe Doutt Sr.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Dover Elks and Dover VFW. He was a Navy Veteran of WW II having served on the USS Livermore in the European and Pacific Theatres. He enjoyed his family and friends, and most people that knew him loved him deeply.
David is survived by his wife Norma Maurer Doutt with whom he celebrated 56 years of marriage on February 10, 2001.
He is also survived by two daughters: Catherine and John Paris of San Diego, CA
Janice and Robert Chaplin of Yokosuka, Japan
Sister: Theresa Ann and Joe Youmans of Dover
Brother: Neil and Joann Doutt of Berea
Sister in law: Rita Doutt of Dover
Five grandchildren: Laura, Thad, Steven, Jason and Jamie
Four great grandchildren
He was also preceded in death by two brothers: Lester ''Jack'' Jr. and Ralph ''Bud'' Doutt
A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, May 29, 2001 at 10:00 am in the St. Joseph Catholic Church at Dover with Fr. William Arnold officiating. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery at Dover, where the Dover VFW will conduct military graveside services. Friends can call in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home at Dover on Monday from 5-7 pm with Dover Elks service starting at 4:30 and Christian Wake at 6:45 pm.
