David J. Sisson, 54, of New Philadelphia, died Saturday, June 17, 2000 in Parry Sound, Ontario, Canada.
Born June 26, 1945 at Canton, he was a son of the late Robert L. & Glenda C. Eckenweiler Sisson.
He was retired, after 30 years of service, from the Huntington Bank, where he had worked as an Assistant Vice President. Dave was also a New Phila. Councilman, former city safety director, past president of the New Phila. Kiwanis, a volunteer for both Hospice and the Boy Scouts. He had also been active as an EMT and Firefighter with the Bolivar VFD, Bolivar City Council member, and an original member of the Bolivar Breakfast Club.
Dave is survived by his wife, Denise Burnhouse Sisson, whom he wed February 23, 1974.
He was a loving father to his two children, Matthew and Micah Sisson of the home. In addition, two brothers; Robert & Linda Sisson, Jr.of Maryland, and Larry & Edith Sisson of Bolivar, and a God-son, John Michael Kurtz Gilmore, 7 nieces and 3 nephews also survive.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, June 22, at 11:00am in the Emmanuel Lutheran Church at New Phila., with Rev. Dr. William C. Haggis & Rev. Dan Schaefer officiating. A reception will follow in the St. Paul's Lutheran Church at Bolivar following Robert Sissons interment in Ft. Laurens Cemetery. In keeping with Dave's wishes, cremation will take place following services. Friends may call in Toland-Herzig Funeral Home, Dover on Wednesday, anytime after 2pm with family present from 2-4 & 6-9pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Tuscarawas County.
