He was a cryptologist and linguist for the Vietnamese and was part of the Branch of Intelligence ASA. He was honorably discharged on March 27, 1960. He married the love of his life, Darlene Wallace, on June 20, 1981. Darlene and David co-owned the former Crowl Investigation and Security Services in Marietta from 1986 until 2002.
He loved golfing, playing cards, and was an avid Cleveland Browns fan. David and Darlene were active with the Pioneer City Friends of Greyhounds in Marietta. Together they found homes for 207 retired racers. He and Darlene personally adopted five of them, four of which have gone to the Rainbow Bridge. Wandy Woo is still at home with Darlene.
