David Lee Carrick

October 26, 1955 — April 1, 2023

David Lee Carrick was welcomed into Heaven on April 1, 2023, after a 9 year struggle with lymphoma. He is survived by his soulmate and loving wife of 46 years Teresa Carrick. He was the proud father of Micah (Larissa) Carrick of Dover, Adam (Megan) Carrick of Hendersonville, North Carolina, Nathanael (MaKenzi) Carrick of Hartville, and adored his beloved grandchildren Elena, Sofie, Caleb, Lydia, Sadie, Luke, Olive, and Judah. He is also survived by his father, Dale E. Carrick, siblings Vicki VanNoy, Susan (Bob) McConnell, Cathy (Glenn) Vreeland, Mark (Beth) Carrick, Jonathon Carrick, Benjamin Carrick, Sarah (Eugene) Weston Floyd, and Teresa Commander, as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

David is preceded in death by his mother, Priscilla Carrick (Markham), sister-in-law Becky Carrick, and infant granddaughter Violet Carrick.

David was born on October 26, 1955 to Dale and Priscilla Carrick in Alma, Michigan. His life’s work was devoted to the ministry of others. Wherever God led him, be it youth ministry in Sebring, Ohio, small groups or senior ministry at churches from Ohio to Colorado, church or wilderness camp at Round Lake where he loved to camp with his family, or chaplain of the New Philadelphia fire department, David was a humble servant who formed valued relationships, always making sure that God was front and center. His dedication to his Lord served as a masterclass of what it means to take servanthood seriously, and these lessons reverberated wherever he worked or went, changing lives for the better.

In his “spare” time, David was an avid reader and made it a continuous goal to always be learning and growing in his faith. He thrived outdoors and enjoyed the occasional hunting trip. He treasured his family time, and especially loved playing board games and taking long walks with his wife, telling “punny” “Dad jokes,” and sharing a hearty breakfast with his sons. His character, faithful love, and servant heart will remain legacies for all who knew and loved him.

Per David’s wishes, there will be no services or calling hours. The Toland-Herzig Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
