David M. “Mike” Mutschelknaus, 80, of Dover died Monday, January 29, 2018 in the Community Hospice Truman House.
Born July 24, 1937 in Baltic, he was a son of the late Glenn and Ethel Lower Mutschelknaus. Mike was also preceded in death by his brother, Peter Mutschelknaus.
Mike retired from GE in Dover after more than 40 years of service. He was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ and the Zoar Gun Club. Mike was a true handyman who enjoyed helping his daughters with all of their home repair needs. He was also an avid fisherman, and loved going on fishing trips to Canada with family and friends. Most importantly, he was a devoted grandfather; they were the center of his world.
Mike is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joanna Simmons Mutschelknaus whom he married on November 30, 1957; daughters, Rhonda Mutschelknaus, Shelly Nordine both of Dover; sisters, Becky Mutschelknaus of Baltic, Beth (Rodney) Showers of Dover; brother, Tim (Nancy) Mutschelknaus of Baltic; grandchildren, Nathan Mutschelknaus, Faith, Miriam and Sky Nordine, and one great grandson, David M. Mutschelknaus.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 2nd at 2:00 pm in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover with Rev. Thomas Dunkle officiating. Interment will be in the West Lawn Cemetery at Baltic. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 5-7 pm.
