David P. White

David P. "Dave" White, age 70, of New Philadelphia, passed away Friday, October 30, 2015, in Community Hospice House at New Philadelphia, after battling lung cancer.

Born November 10, 1944, at Malvern, he was a son of the late Paul and Esther Pauline (Baxter) White. Dave attended school in Malvern, and served honorably with the United States Army during the Vietnam War, having been awarded the Purple Heart and a Bronze Star.

Dave was a hard-worker all of his life, and was employed by S & M Recycling at New Philadelphia. His greatest joy was found being with his family especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He will be sadly missed by his children, Tracy (Norman) Penick, Connie (Dale) Walker and Bill (Julie) Daugherty, all of New Philadelphia, and Katrina (Scott) Reynolds and David II (Emily) White, both of Tippecanoe; his twenty grandchildren; his ten great-grandchildren (and two more expected soon); his sister and four brothers; and his many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Dave was preceded in death by his beloved wife of thirty-five years, Kathryn P. (Nealey) White, on April 2 of this year; and two sisters and three brothers.

Family and friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory at Dover on Monday, November 2, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 12, in the funeral home, with Pastor Sandra Cappel of Tippecanoe's Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Church Cemetery, Tippecanoe, where military honors will be presented. Following the committal, there will be a luncheon in the Mt. Carmel Church.
