David R. Johnson

David R. Johnson, 76, of East Canton died Sunday, April 15, 2012 at Aultman Hospital.

He retired from the City of Akron after 30 years of service as a Health Inspector.

Born February 3, 1936 in Akron he was a son of the late Walter and Lucille Frasher Johnson. David was also preceded in death by his wife, Yvonne Johnson on April 14, 2004.

He loved watching all sports and enjoyed playing golf. He was also an Army veteran.

David is survived by four children, Linda (John) Faulkner of East Canton, George (Julie) Sokolovits of Springfield Twp, Michelle Harper of Stow and Michael Sokolovits of East Canton; brothers, Don (Kathleen) Johnson and Howard (Sylvia) Johnson both of Hudson; 10 grandchildren and one great grandson.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at 2:00 pm in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Strasburg with Pastor Brian Flood officiating. Following the service, cremation will take place with inurnment in the Grandview Union Cemetery at a later date. Friends can call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
