David Wayne Smith

David Wayne Smith, 32, of New Philadelphia (Barnhill), died Thursday, Mar. 4, 2010.

Born Nov. 11, 1977, in Dover, he was a son of David and Sandra Davidson Smith of Barnhill. David graduated from Dover High School in 1996; he had also attended Buckeye Career Center. David took a job selling magazines, which took him to nearly every state in the union. He was likeable and easy-going, and made friends wherever he went. He stayed in touch with his buddies everywhere, and they with him. David was also a great fan of all the Cleveland sports teams �" win or lose.

He was a former employee of Roofers Local 88 of Canton, and Lincoln Manufacturing, Strasburg.

David is survived by his loving family, which includes his mom and dad; a sister, Toni (Larry) Howard of New Philadelphia; a niece and nephew, Chloe and Carson Howard; maternal grandparents, Ronald and Virginia Smith, of New Philadelphia; maternal grandmother, Nancy Davidson also of New Philadelphia; and paternal grandmother, Rose Blackwell of Dover; aunts, uncles and many cousins and good friends.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, William Davidson; paternal grandfather, Robert Smith; maternal great-grandmother, Margaret Marburger; maternal great-grandparents, Austin and Ethel Grinder.

Family and friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, 246 E. High Ave., New Philadelphia, on Sunday, Mar. 7, 5 �" 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held Monday, Mar. 8, at 11 a.m. in the funeral home, with Pastor David W. Wing of the Foursquare Gospel Church in Dover officiating. Immediately following the service, there will be a luncheon in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center on the Boulavard in Dover.
