David A. Yockey

David A. Yockey, age 74, of Bolivar, passed away Sunday, June 4, 2023. He had suffered from COPD for some time, but his death came unexpectedly.

David was born on June 7, 1948, in Dennison, to the late P. Adrian and Betty Hines Yockey. He graduated from Dover High School in 1966, and went on to undergo electronics training through United Technologies. David was then drafted into the United States Army and served honorably in the Vietnam War. Following his discharge he  attended Kent State University. David was employed by Republic Steel in both Canton and Massillon for a total of 36 years, retiring in 2015, and was a member of the United Steelworkers Union.

David is survived by his wife, Lorri Owens Yockey, whom he married on July 19, 1988; his children, Michael D. (Michelle) Yockey and Adrienne Yockey; his step-son, Randy (Corinne) Derrick; his brothers, Mark (Vickie) Yockey and Keith Yockey; his sisters-in-law, Karen Murphy, Ginny (Dave) Boyd and Debbie Owens; and his nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Besides his parents, David was preceded in death by his father-in-law, James Owens, and his brother-in-law, Kirk Murphy.

Family and friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover on Friday, June 9, 12:30 - 1:30 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 1:30 in the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Shelly Nordine of Dover’s Faith United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Dover Burial Park. After the committal, there will be a lunch in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center on the Boulevard in Dover.
