Dean A. Feller

Dean A. Feller, 82, a lifelong resident of Dover died early Sunday morning, Nov. 25, 2012 in the Community Hospice House following a period of declining health.

Dean had a lifetime involvement in the trucking and transportation industry. He also enjoyed farming.

Born Oct. 11, 1930 in Dover, he was the son of the late Rolan D. and Dorothy (Hiltbrand) Feller.

Dean was actively involved in the St. John's United Church of Christ in Dover where he served the church in numerous capacities. He was also previously a member of the Good Hope Lutheran Church in Zoarville. Shortly after graduating from Dover High School in 1948, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was a member of the Dover American Legion Post and the Tuscarawas County 40 et 8. He was recognized for his involvement in the creation of the memorial stone and bench at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at Rittman in honor of veterans laid to rest there.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Janet F. (Edwards) Feller who died Oct. 25, 2010.

He will be sadly missed by his family including four children Holly Joy Gonter, Richard (Dorothy) Feller, and Todd (Darsi) Feller all of Dover, OH and Deanna (Byron) Vickery of Columbus, OH; ten grandchildren, Abby Gonter of Mayfield Village, OH Grant Gonter of Lakewood, OH Douglas (Brianne) Feller of Alexandria, OH, Aaron Feller of Dover, Logan (Monica) Feller of Baltimore, OH, Laura Feller of New Philadelphia, Alexandra Vickery of New York City, NY, Taylor Vickery of Columbus, Gabriel Feller and Sophia Feller both of Dover; two sisters, Virginia Dorsey of Cuyahoga Falls, OH and Ellen (Glenn) Waggy of Seville, OH and a brother, Earl (Cindy) Feller of Dover along with numerous extended family.

A celebration of Dean's life will be held Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012 at 2:30pm in the St. John's United Church of Christ at Dover with Pastor Gene Kraus officiating followed by military honors by the Dover VFW. A reception will follow the service in the St. John's Fellowship Hall. Friends may call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory at Dover on Wednesday from 4-8pm and at the church Thursday from 1:30-2:30pm. Following the service, cremation will take place and he will be laid to rest in the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio.
