Dean F. Miller

Dean F. Miller, 89, of Dover passed away at the Community Hospice Truman House on Saturday, April 14, 2018. Dean spent his final days surrounded by his family while reminiscing and telling stories about his life.

Born on May 9, 1928 in his home at Dover, he was the son of the late Harold and Amelia (Maurer) Miller. He was also preceded in death by his granddaughter, Sosha Miller.
He graduated from Dover High School with the class of 1947. Dean honorably served our country in the United States Army as a cook during the Korean War. Dean was a skilled machinist at Greer Steel, where he worked for 33 years before his retirement. He was also a talented woodworker, baker and cook. He owned Dean’s Corner Bakery in Dover for three years.

Dean was a lifelong member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Dover. He was an avid Cleveland Indian fan. He was also Dover fan and was a 74 year season ticket holder.

On July 24, 1954 he married the love of his life, Carol Seeley. In addition to Carol, he will be sadly missed by his five children; Steven (Diane) Miller of Dover, Peggy (Scott) Marshall of New Philadelphia, Doug Miller of Dover, Janet (Chuck) Albaugh of New Philadelphia, Dale (Lee Anne) Miller of Strasburg; his grandchildren, Tyler, Ethan, Josh, Shawn, Kyle, Alyssa, Anthony, Jenna, Mark, and Ellie; numerous great-grandchildren; his brothers, Paul and Earl Miller; along with his dear friend and cooking buddy, Dave McGrath.

A celebration of Dean’s life will take place at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Dover on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at 11:00 am with Rev. Thomas Dunkle officiating. Friends are invited to call one hour prior to the service at the church. Immediately following the service, a meal will be served in the church social hall.
