Debra A. "Debbie" Shearer

Debra A. “Debbie” Shearer, 63, of Strasburg passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, January 27, 2021.

Born on June 27, 1957 in Dover she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Elaine Slemmer Hershberger. Debbie was also preceded in death by her brother, John Hershberger.

She retired from Union Hospital after 17 years of service, and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Club #1982, Bolivar Army-Navy. She was a wonderful and loving wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by her husband of 44 years, Charles “Chuck” Shearer whom she married on September 4, 1976; children, Stephanie (Keith) DeVault of Dover, Shannon (Joe) Cox of Strasburg; siblings, Junior (Kay) Hershberger of Dover, Rick Hershberger, Kathy (Dan) Donato both of Strasburg, Lucy (Clint) Stamets of Parral; grandchildren, Madison and Brett DeVault, Mathew and Brandon Cox; sister in law, Mary Hershberger of New Philadelphia; aunt, Donna Domer of Columbus and many nieces and nephews.

Private services will be held. The family will be greeting friends on Monday, February 1st from 5-7 pm in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at 140 South Bodmer Ave., Strasburg. Due to Covid-19 masks and social distancing will be required.
