Delma M. Ledsome Cole, 75, of New Philadelphia, died Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2002, in Riverside Manor, Newcomerstown.
Born Nov. 19, 1926, in Parkersburg, WV, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Jesse and Ora Lauderman Shears. Delma attended high school on Parkersburg, and later received training as a licensed practical nurse. She married her first husband, Charles Ledsome, in 1943, and they were later divorced. In 1972, she married Clarence A. Cole. Clarence died in 1975. Delma retired from Colonial Manor (formerly the Tuscarawas County Home), and she was also employed by the former East Avenue Nursing Home in New Philadelphia.
She was a former member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Strasburg. Delma enjoyed crocheting and knitting. She liked baseball, and was a Braves fan.
Survivors include three daughters, Sandra Kay (Alan) MacKinnon of Worton, MD, Robin (Dale) Thornton of Port Washington, and Julia Lynch of Bolivar; two sons, Dan (Marla) Ledsome of Dover, and Russell David Ledsome of Tuscarawas; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; a sister, Eva Posten of Williamstown, WV; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by Charles Ledsome, and a sister Lavina McMann.
A funeral service will be held Friday, Aug. 23, 2002, at 11 a.m., in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home, Dover. Burial will be in Evergreen Burial Park, New Philadelphia.
