Delmar L. Lewis, 94, of Strasburg, passed away peacefully at Park Village Southside in New Philadelphia.
He was a graduate of the Bolivar School, and proudly served his country with the United States Air Force during the Korean War, having been stationed at the Travis Air Force Base in California. Following his discharge, he went to the Coyne Trade School in Chicago. He spent his working career in refrigeration, heating and cooling, and retired from Fisher Foods of Canton in 1995.
He was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Strasburg, the Charles Hofer Post of the American Legion also of Strasburg, the Tuscarawas County Cattlemen's Association, and the Brandywine Grange. When he wasn’t working, he could be found outside and working on the family farm, raising crops and beef cattle.
He is survived by his three children, Jack Lewis (companion, Janice Norton), Mark (Judy) Lewis, Linda (Mark) Conkle all of Strasburg; six grandchildren, Andrew (Cassidy) Lewis, Amanda Lewis, Angela Lewis (companion, Matt Davis), Jordan (Ashley) Turek, Logan (Allie) Turek, Evann (Bryson) Bailey; four great grandchildren, Cora, Landri, Colter and T.J.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Sue Lewis; mother, Lucille Osler; step-father, Ralph; sisters, Darlene Anderson, Nora Lewis; and a brother that is still Missing In Action from the Korean War, Jack Lewis.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, April 29th starting at 1:00 pm in the Grandview Union Cemetery at Strasburg with Andrew Kohr officiating. The Strasburg American Legion will conduct military honors. The family will be greeting friends at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Strasburg from 12:00 pm until 12:50 pm
