Delphia May Wendling

Delphia ''May'' Akers Wendling, 86 of Dover went home to be with the Lord December 30, 2001 from complications following surgery.

She was a loving mother and homemaker for 70 years. She enjoyed going to auctions. She was an avid doll and dish collector. She enjoyed cooking, baking and quilting, sitting on her front porch ''swinging'' and making her house a beautiful home.

Born July 18, 1915 in Summertown, Tennessee. She was a daughter of the late Thomas and Belle Akers. She was a member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church at Dover.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Louis ''Whitey'' Wendling, three sons, David, Thomas and Johnny Wendling, three sisters and four brothers.

Survivors include: a son; Frederick E. Wendling and his companion Barbara Stephens, daughter; Rachael S. Gianfrancesco, daughter-in-law; Gwendolyn Wendling, nineteen grandchildren, twenty-five great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters; Mrs. Frank (Polly) Vitt and Ive ''Sue'' Schlemmer.

At May's request there are no calling hours. A public graveside service will be held Wednesday, January 2, 2002 at 2:00pm in Ridgecrest Memory Gardens with Rev. Richard Rose and May's grandson David Douglass officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association or to the Missions Fund at the Christian Missionary Alliance Church of Dover.
