Dennis P. Brown, 63, of New Philadelphia, died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2004, in Union Hospital, Dover, following a brief illness.
Born Jul. 11, 1941, in Pickerington, he was the son of the late Paul and Maxine Brown. Dennis graduated Pickerington High School, and served honorably with the United States Marine Corps in the Viet Nam War. On Aug. 1, 1970, he married Carolyn L. “Cookie” Lippencott. The couple set-up housekeeping and raised a family, spending thirty-two years together before Cookie�(TM)s death in 2002.
Dennis retired as a deputy for the Tuscarawas County Sheriff�(TM)s Dept. He was an outdoorsman, who hunted bear, deer, and liked to fish. Dennis also enjoyed working with firearms. He belonged to the Tuscarawas County Rifle Club and the National Rifle Association.
Dennis was a member of New Philadelphia Lodge 177 F. & A.M., Tuscarawas Chapter 38 R.A.M., Tuscarawas Council 109 R.S.M., and St. Bernard Commandery 51
Survivors include three daughters, Theresa Moran of Wadsworth, Denise (John) Fabynick of New Philadelphia, and Brandy (Michael) Lieser of Dover; two sons, Troy Brown of Columbus, and James Michael (Pam) Petrella of Simi Valley, CA; fifteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, and his beloved wife, Cookie, a daughter, Maria Eggerton, and a sister, Judy Flemate, preceded him in death.
Dennis�(TM) life will be celebrated in a service Friday, Dec. 31, at 11 a.m., in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home, 246 E. High Ave., New Philadelphia. The New Philadelphia post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars will hold military rites at the funeral home immediately following the service. Afterwards, there will be a reception in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center, 831 Boulevard, Dover.
