Dennis W. Francis

Dennis W. Francis, 59, of New Philadelphia and a former Dover resident died Sunday, August 23, 2009 at Union Hospital in Dover following an extended illness.

Denny retired due to his illness from Owens Brockway in Sugarcreek and was a longtime employee of Belden Brick Company. He also previously was a police officer in Sugarcreek.

Born April 11, 1950 in Dover, he was the son of the late Roy and Betty (Fritz) Francis.

He was a 1970 graduate of Dover High School. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He also had many interests including old automobiles, motorcycle riding, and especially enjoyed chatting with people.

Denny is survived by two children, Shaun (wife Heather) Francis of Dover and Amber (husband, Steve) Steineck of Mineral City; four grandchildren, Alexis, Brianna, and Caden Francis and Ryder Steineck. A sister, Barb (husband, John) Reiser of Marion, Ohio and his companion, Betty Gleitsman along with several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Denny was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Kay Kohler.

A funeral service celebrating Denny�(TM)s life will be held Friday, August 28, 2009 at 11am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory at Dover with Pastor Matt Roe officiating. Interment will be in the Dover Burial Park. A reception will follow in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 5-8pm.
