Diane L. Beegle

Diane L. Beegle, age 83, of Dover, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, February 10, 2025, in Dover’s Park Village Health Care Center.

Born January 21, 1942, in Canton, she was the daughter of the late Clifford and Vera (Kollar) Smith. Diane attended Dover High School, and, on July 11, 1959, married Kenneth E. “Ken” Beegle. The couple had three children and shared 58 years of marriage prior to Ken’s passing on November 28, 2017. Diane was a loving homemaker, a nurturer, and was a member of the former LifeBridge North congregation in Strasburg. She was a talented seamstress and made many, many items of clothing, which she gifted. Diane also gave regularly to various charitable organizations. She cared for her mother-in-law, Ruth Beegle, in her advanced age. Diane also rescued a number of animals over the years; she had a big heart. Some of Diane’s favorite pastimes were playing cards and reading.

She is survived by her children, Vickie Sullivan of Strasburg, Todd Beegle of Dover, and Pamela Beegle of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; her much-loved and only granddaughter, Mary Sullivan; her sister, Sarah Stanley; her step-brother, Bobby (Carol Meek) Barnett; her nieces and nephews; and her good friends, Jane and Greg Tortolla, Bonnie McMillan and Carol McDougall. 

In addition to her parents, and her husband, Ken, Diane was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Smith, and her sister Donna Mills – on February 4 of this year.

Family and friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover on Friday, February 14, 12:30 - 1:30 p.m. A service will follow at 1:30, officiated by Pastor Jason Rissler of St. John United Church of Christ, Strasburg. Burial will be with Ken in East Sparta Cemetery.
