Diane Lynn Schilling, 72, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at Hennis Care Center in Dover, Ohio. Daughter of the late Ralph & Eileen Jentes and Lois & Roy Gordon was born at Union Hospital and raised in Dover.
The proud former Dover High School graduate went on to attend the University of Akron majoring in secretarial studies. She met the love of her life, the late James (Jim) Creighton Schilling, and they married on September 1, 1972. While celebrating almost 35 years of marriage together they had many adventures in Cincinnati, Dover, and Indiana finding and making many friends along the way.
Diane was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dover. Loved by all who knew her as a die-hard Dover Football and band fan, card player, pie maker, baton twirler, and a lead footed shopper who could find any mall in any area.
A loving mother, she is survived by her three children Stephen (Kim) Schilling of Dover, Julie (Chad) Arbogast of Dover, and Lisa (Brock Deetz) of Uhrichsville; grandchildren Steven Pace, Kylie (John) Dowdell, Michael Schilling, Cora Schilling, Troy, Alex, Braison, Skylie and Henry Arbogast, and Corbin Schilling. She will be dearly missed by her brother Gary (Margie) Jentes of New Philadelphia, Sherry Dogwiler of North Fort Myers, Florida, Ralph (Barb) Jentes of Uniontown, Ohio, and Bob Jentes of Florida. In addition to her siblings, she will be sadly missed by Jim’s siblings Jan (Donna) Schilling, Larry Martin, Angela (Tom) Kerns, and Joyce (Jim) Lawrence, along with many nieces and nephews and close friends. She is preceded in death by her brother in law Donald Dogwiler, sister in law Penny Martin, and nephew David Martin.
A funeral Mass celebrating Diane’s life will be held on Wednesday, February 21st starting at 10:30 a.m. in the St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. Jimmy Hatfield officiating. Interment will be next to her husband at the St. Joseph Calvary Cemetery, Dover. Following the burial, a meal for family and friends will be served at the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center. Friends may call in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover on Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. with Christian Wake services starting at 7:00.
