Dolores J. Marks, 90, of 1604 Dover Avenue, Dover and a recent resident of Park Village died Friday, April 10, 2015 at Union Hospital following a brief illness.
Dolores was a clerical employee of the former Dover Phila Electric and had previously worked for the former W.T. Grant Store, the former Rens Restaurant in Dover and worked in the Ammunition Factory in Canton during World War II.
Born September 16, 1924 in Dover, she was the daughter of the late Louis A. and Josephine (Ren) Leone. In addition to her parents, Dolores was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Jack Marks who died December 21, 2011. She was also preceded by her daughter, Linda Murakami; sister and brother in law Mary Alice and Robert Kline, and brother in law, James Zifer.
Dolores was a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dover. She was a 1942 graduate of Dover High School. She had many interests that included crocheting and enjoyed giving her creations as gifts and was also known for her cooking that included her spaghetti and other Italian dishes and her homemade pies. She was also an avid sports fan that included Dover Tornado Football, OSU Buckeyes, and the Cleveland Browns and Cavs. Finally, last but certainly not least, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Dolores will be sadly missed by her family that includes her daughter Catherine Marks of Columbus and son John (Linda) Marks of Dover; seven grandchildren, Christopher Harlan, Laurie Hall, Jason and Joshua Marks, Kristen, Elise and Maxwell Murakami along with fourteen great grandchildren; a sister, Nancy Zifer of New Philadelphia and brother, Michael (Jean) Leone of Dover.
A funeral mass will be held Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at 10:30am in the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dover with Fr. Jimmy Hatfield officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her husband, Jack at Calvary Cemetery in Dover. A reception will follow in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center. Friends may call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover on Tuesday from 6-8pm with Christian Wake services beginning at 8pm.
