Dolores J. Pisony

Dolores J. Pisony, 81, of New Philadelphia, died Friday, Mar. 16, 2012 in Union Hospital, Dover, from congestive heart failure.

Born Dec. 16, 1930, in New Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late Fred and Mary Howell Mowrer. Dolores attended New Philadelphia High School, and in her youth was employed by several local businesses, including the Twilight Drive-In Theatre, Belmont Stamp & Enameling Co., Miller Studio and the Chatterbox Restaurant. Foremost, she was a loving, devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Dolores was a member of Sacred Heart Church in New Philadelphia. She was an excellent baker and cook, who was known for her homemade bread. She also spent many hours canning the produce of her family's garden. Dolores crocheted, making afghans for family and friends, as well as hundreds of doilies. Some of her happiest times were spent camping and fishing at Clendening Lake with her family.

Survivors include her son, Daniel R. (Evelyn) Pisony of New Philadlphia; her four daughters, Connie Gross and Cathryn (Gary) McRobie, both of New Phildelphia; Jody (Melvin) Ash of Venice, FL, and Janie Porcher of Dover; ten grandchildren, Robbie (Teresa) Gross, Danny J. (Wendy) Pisony, Melody Richardson, Tracy (Dennis) Kohlstedt, Gary (Kimberly) McRobie, Deanna (James) Miller, Katie Porcher, Becky (A.P.) Ren, Dawn Gross and Rachel Pisony; fifteen great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Dolores was preceded in death by her beloved husband of nearly sixty-three years, Joseph R. Pisony, on Jul. 14, 2011; her son-in-law, Barry Porcher; and her sisters and brothers she was the last of her family.

Family and friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in New Philadelphia on Sunday, Mar. 18, 2 5 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Monday, Mar. 19, at 10:30 a.m., with Fr. Jeff Coning officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, New Philadelphia. Following the committal, there will be a luncheon in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center on the Boulevard in Dover.
