Dolores J. Weaver, age 73, of Dover, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012, in New Dawn Health Care Center, Dover. Dolores had battled A.L.S. (Lou Gehrig's Disease) the past eight months.
Born Jul. 15, 1939, in Wainwright, she was a daughter of the late John and Ruth "Dolly" Heim Perko. Dolores graduated in 1957 from the former St. Mary's High School in Dennison, and married Joseph A. "Joe" Weaver on Aug. 24, 1968 in the former St. Therese Church in Wainwright. The couple was blessed with two children. Dolores was employed for thirty-five years by the Reeves Banking & Trust Co., Dover, and its successor, Huntington Bank, from which she retired. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, who also lovingly cared for her parents in their later years.
Dolores was an active member of St. Joseph Church at Dover where she served on the finance committee, participated in various church activities, and belonged to the senior citizens group.
She especially enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren, who were the loves of her life. Dolores made every effort to make her home a special place for her family decorating for every holiday, and she made Christmas a particularly festive time. Dolores also liked to travel and made annual autumn trips to Vermont to visit her sister.
She will be sadly missed by her family, who include her loving husband, Joe; daughter, Susan (Patrick) Flaherty of Hunting Valley; son, Michael (Shirley) Weaver of Dover; six grandchildren, Robert, Julia and Laura Weaver, and Nathan, Kevin and Megan Flaherty; sister, Shirley (Neil) Putnam of Bethel, VT; brother, John (Loretta) Perko of North Canton; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, Dolores was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Mary Ann and John Peacock.
Family and friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover on Friday, Nov. 2, 5 8 p.m., with a Christian wake service at 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, Nov. 3, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph Church with Fr.
