Don A. Ulrich, 85, of New Philadelphia died Monday, July 13, 2015 in the Park Village Health Care Center.

Born October 26, 1929 in New Philadelphia he was a son of the late Howard and Emma Treacle Ulrich. Don was also preceded in death by his sisters and brother in law, Edna Shroyer, Doris Fenton, and Sara (Harold) Fenton.

Don was a 1947 graduate of New Philadelphia High School, a graduate of Wisconsin Central States Banking School and served his country with the US Army during the Korean War. Early in his career, he worked as a Bank Examiner for the State of Ohio, Division of Banks from 1956-1958. He then was employed by the Reeves Banking & Trust Company of Dover where he was a Vice President and Treasurer. Don retired in 1985 from the Huntington National Bank as Vice President with 27 years of service. Following his retirement, he served as the Executive Director of the Reeves Foundation from 1988-2002 and was then a trustee of the foundation from 2003-2014. He was a member of Broadway United Methodist Church, New Philadelphia Elks and was a former member of the Union Country Club where he enjoyed playing golf. Don loved music, and played the saxophone and clarinet with numerous bands over the years. He and Janice traveled extensively throughout the United States and especially enjoyed their trips to the western states to visit the national parks and their annual vacation to Florida.

Don is survived by his wife of 53 years, Janice Wahl Ulrich, whom he married on May 5, 1962; daughter, Sharon (Martin) Dunkel of North Ridgeville; brother in law, Leo Fenton of New Philadelphia.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 17 at 1:30 pm in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover with Pastor Mick Foster officiating. Interment will be in the Evergreen Burial Park where the Dover VFW will conduct military graveside services. Friends can call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Friday. The family would like to thank the staff at Park Village for their wonderful and compassionate care of Don for the past three months.
