Donald E. Becker, Sr., 82, of 217 Rail Ave., Sebring, Florida and formerly of the Strasburg-Beach City area died Monday, August 23, 1999 in Tampa General Hospital.
Don moved to Florida from Beach City in 1984. He owned and operated Becker Falls Farms north of Strasburg and was also the former transportation manager for Rees Cast Stone Company in Dover.
Born April 10, 1917 in Dover, he was the son of the late Edward G. and Amelia Handrich Becker.
Don was a member of the St. John United Church of Christ in Strasburg. He was a Life member of the New Philadelphia Elks Lodge, former member of the Dover Rotary Club and the Strasburg Lions Club. He was a former Master Gardener in Sebring, Florida for the Florida Cooperative Extension Service in Highlands County. He was also a member of the Sebring Hills Assn., Ohio Potato Growers Assn., National Grange member, served on the National Potato Council, and was a member of the Sebring Volunteer Fire Dept.
He is survived by his wife Betty Jean Brown Becker of Sebring
Two daughters Mrs. Walter (JennyL.) Krantz of Dyer, Indiana and Mrs. Donald (Barbara J.) Wurzel of Norwalk, OH
Two Sons Donald E. (Linda) Becker Jr. of Beach City and Norwood L. 'Woody' (Katherine) Becker of Sugarcreek.
One Brother Robert J. (June) Becker of Dover

He was preceded in death by one brother, Warren Becker.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, October 16, 1999 at 2:00 PM in the St. John United Church of Christ in Strasburg with Pastor Dana Keirstead officiating. Cremation has taken place and interment will be in the Grandview Union Cemetery at Strasburg.
