Donald E. Cecil, 77, of New Philadelphia died Thursday, December 9, 2010 at his home.
Donald was a hard worker and retired as the owner and operator of the Driftwood Motel in New Philadelphia, he also drove truck for Fleming Foods in Navarre.
Born October 1, 1933 in Uhrichsville, Ohio he was a son of the late Edward and Bernice Booth Cecil. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Frances Cecil and an infant sister and brother.
He was a member of the First Church of God and the Masonic Lodge, both of New Philadelphia.
Donald is survived by his wife of 45 years, Thelma Swauger Cecil whom he married on October 22, 1965; daughters, Thelma (Bruce) Hostetler of Uhrichsville, Kerry (David) Sekman of Palm Bay, Florida and Kelly Smith of Dover; sons, Donny (Barb) Cecil of Alliance and Dale Cecil of Massillon; sisters, Helen Kamban and Linda (Ralph) Holderbaum both of New Philadelphia; eight grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 13, 2010 at 11:00 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at New Philadelphia with Pastor Matt Roe officiating. Interment will be in the Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia. Friends can call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Monday.
