Donald E. Ruppenthal Sr., 77, of Dover died Monday, October 1, 2007 in Hennis Care Center in Dover after an extended illness.
Born December 25, 1929, in Port Washington, Ohio, he was the son of the late Herman and Minnie Goettge-Ruppenthal.
Donald graduated from Uhrichsville High School and continued his education at Kent State University where he majored in Business Administration. He married the love of his life, Kathryn Tippett Ruppenthal, on July 18, 1953. Kathryn passed away on March 18 of this year.
Donald retired from General Electric in 1998 after 45 years of employment. Due to his love of landscaping and gardening, he also worked for many years at Hillcrest Garden Center in Dover.
His family remembers him as a very big sports fan. He enjoyed all sports, especially Golf and he played for a semi pro basketball team. For many years, he was an active member of the Dover Tornado Club. He was also a member of the First United Methodist Church in Dover.
He is survived by his son; Donald (Wife, Cheryl) Ruppenthal of North Canton, two granddaughters, Nicole and Dana Ruppenthal both of North Canton; two sisters-in law, Mary (husband, Robert) Withrow of Marion, Ohio and Janice (husband, Dale) Crone of Dover.
A celebration of Donald�(TM)s life will be held on Friday, October 5, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory in Dover with Pastor Cliff Price officiating. Burial will follow at Dover Burial Park. After the committal service, a luncheon will be held at the Toland Herzig Monarch Center, which is located on the Boulevard in Dover. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Thursday, October 4, 2007 from 6:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m.
