Donald E. "Harvey" Waldschlager, age 76, of New Philadelphia, died Saturday, October 10, 2015, in the Louis Stokes Veterans Administration Medical Center at Cleveland.
Born February 7, 1939, at Dixon, Illinois, he was a son of the late John L. E. and Violet E. (Engle) Waldschlager. Donald served honorably in the United States Army, and later was employed as an independent truck driver and welder, having retired from Gradall at New Philadelphia. He was a quiet man who loved his family, enjoyed traveling, long car rides, riding motorcycles in his younger days, singing karaoke, and, in recent years, visiting Tuscora Park. Additionally, Donald was a history buff who especially liked the Air Force Museum at Dayton.
Survivors include his daughter, Sarah (Michael) Vogel of New Philadelphia; his sons, Brent Waldschlager of Canton, and Clayton Waldschlager of Akron; his companion, Doris Elliott of Dover; his granddaughter, Marcedes Waldschlager; a great-grandchild expected in April; his brother, William "Bill" (DeeAnne) Waldschlager of Florida; and his several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his brothers, Eugene, John and Ronald Waldschlager.
Honoring Donald's wishes, he will be cremated and his cremated remains placed in the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at Rittman where military rites will be conducted.
