Donald E. Winkler

Donald E. Winkler, 80, of Dover died Sunday, April 23, 2017 in the Hennis Care Centre at Dover.

Born August 21, 1936 in Dover he was a son of the late Norman and Florence Archinal Winkler. Don was also preceded in death by his wife, June Winkler on January 3, 1998; brother, Wayne Winkler and sisters, Elaine Brokaw and Marlene Immel.

Don retired from Greer Steel after 34 years of service. He was an Air Force Veteran and a member of the New Philadelphia VFW, Dover Eagles Club and the Ball & Arrow Primitive Weapons Club. Don enjoyed family get-togethers and being outdoors, especially camping and fishing at Clendening Lake. He also loved going to all of his grandchildren’s sporting events and activities.

Don will be sadly missed by his sons, Duane (Vicki) Winkler of New Philadelphia, Steve (Tammy) Winkler of Dover, Doyle (Vera) Winkler of Mineral City; sister, Jean (Bob) Zion of Salem; grandchildren, Cory, Shannon, Stephanie, Darcie, Stacie; great grandchildren, Landyn, Kyra, Dawson and Spencer.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 26th at 11:00 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover. Interment will be at the Dover Burial Park where the New Philadelphia VFW will conduct military graveside services. Friends can call at the funeral home one-hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
