Donald James Welsch

Donald J. Welsch, 90, of New Philadelphia, and a former resident of Dover and
Malvern, died Wednesday, Jun. 1, 2005, in Union Hospital.

Born Feb. 15, 1915 in Strasburg, Donald attended Strasburg schools and was
employed by the Wallick Coal Co. for many years. He retired as a crane
operator from the E & L Co. in Canton.

Donald was a member of St. Francis Xavier Church in Malvern, and attended St.
Joseph Church in Dover. He enjoyed sports, especially watching baseball and
football, and, in his younger days, he liked to fish and camp. Donald loved
his family and enjoyed being with them.

Survivors include two daughters, Linda Lisk of Calcutta, OH, and Stella (Frank)
Vickers of New Philadelphia; ten grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren;
three sisters, Mae (Archie) Collins of Canton, Margaret Noble and Joann
Schilling, both of New Mexico; a brother, Pete Welsch of Strasburg; several
nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Martha L.
Donehue Welsch, in 1995; a daughter, Sheila Espenschied; a great-grandson,
David Brown; two brothers Dick and Herb Welsch.

Donald�(TM)s life will be celebrated in a service Monday, Jun. 6, at 1 p.m., in the
Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, 246 E. High Ave., New Philadelphia,
with Fr. William Arnold officiating. Burial will be in St. Francis Xavier
Cemetery, Malvern. Following the committal, there will be a reception (at
approximately 3:30 p.m.) in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center, 801 Boulevard,
Dover. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Sunday,
