Donald W. Kruithoff, 71, of Dover passed away on Sunday, June 20, 2010 at Schoenbrunn Health Care Center.
He had retried from GM in Detroit, Michigan after 20 years of service.
Born March 6, 1939 in Queens, NY, and raised in Brooklyn, he was a son of the late Phillip and Julia Kerwin Kruithoff. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Kruithoff; infant daughter, son, Donald Kruithoff II and 11 brothers and three sisters.
Donald was a member of the Dover Eagles and the Army-Navy Club. He was an Army veteran having served in Germany during the Cold War from 1956-1959. Donald was a happy go lucky guy who enjoyed cook outs, NASCAR and rooting for his Yankees, as well as, being with his family and friends. Donald especially loved being with his granddaughters, they were truly the apples of his eye.
Donald will be sadly missed by his children, Virginia (husband, Michael) Swinderman and Shawn Kruithoff both of Dover; sisters, Virginia, Mary Jane and Joanie; grandchildren, Karissa, Kiersten and Steven Swinderman; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at 3:00 pm in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover with Deacon Ron Fondriest officiating. Following the service, cremation will be handled through the care of the Toland-Herzig Crematory with interment of the ashes to be held at a later date. Friends can call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
