Donald R. "Dick" Zearley

Donald R. "Dick" Zearley, 90, of Strasburg passed away at his home, surrounded by his loving family, on Saturday, April 26, 2025.

Born on August 11, 1934 in Wellsville, Ohio, he was a son of the late Clarence and Edith Dickey Zearley. Dick was also preceded in death by his sisters, Margaret Johnston, Dolores Morrow; brothers, Robert and Clarence "Buddy" Zearley.

Dick and his family moved to Massillon in 1942, and later was a 1952 graduate of Massillon High School. For over 60 years, he was the owner of D. R. Zearley Builders in Strasburg, where he built an impressive 150 homes. His craftsmanship and hard work left a lasting legacy that will long be remembered by those that knew him. Dick was known for his enthusiastic personality and hobbies. He found great joy in taking care of his yard, particularly riding his lawn tractor, Dick spent his free time at his cherished lake in Strasburg, and his farm in Beach City. He had a great interest in classic cars, attending shows and auctions throughout the United States.

He is survived by his children, Pamela Burdge of Navarre, Chris (Kathy) Zearley of Springboro, and Lisa (Brian) Eshelman of Canton; grandchildren: Jonathan (Brandi) Burdge, Jessica (Jimmy) Evans, Alyssa Zearley, Nicole (Andrew) McNeil, Anna Zearley, Ryan Zearley, Madison and Andrew Eshelman; five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 30th starting at 11:00 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Strasburg with Pastor Bryan George officiating. Immediately following the service, a luncheon will be served in the funeral home's reception area. Graveside services will be held in the Sunset Hills Memory Gardens at North Canton on Wednesday starting at 2:00 pm. The family will be greeting friends at the Strasburg funeral home on Tuesday from 5:00 to 7:00 pm and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
