Born August 9, 1936, at Big Run, West Virginia, he was a son of the late Russell Hostutler and Frosty (Williams) Kirkpatrick. Donley was a member of the National Insulator Association for forty years. He enjoyed hunting as a young man, and he fished in the Tuscarawas River and the Muskingum Lakes until recently, when his health no longer allowed him to do so. Among his other favorite pastimes were looking for morels, going to auctions and garage sales, and collecting golf balls.

He is survived by his wife, Rachel; his two daughters, Shirley Stoneham of Englewood, Florida, and Sherry Bathori (Nick) of Wilmington; his son, Jeffrey Hostutler of Raritan, New Jersey; his grandson, Jeffrey Hostutler; his half-sisters, Josephine Streley of Hopedale, Dessie Kirkpatrick of New Martinsville, West Virginia, Pansy Rush of Piney, West Virginia, Joy Kuhn of Hundred, West Virginia, and Donna Willoughby of Pine Grove, West Virginia; his half-brothers, Arles Kirkpatrick of New Cumberland, West Virginia, and John Kirkpatrick of Florida; his sister-in-law, Kathy Kirkpatrick Mansells of New Cumberland, West Virginia; and his many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Donley was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Fox; and his brother, Arthur Kirkpatrick.
