Donna J. Renner, age 85, of Dover, died Thursday, August 29, 2013, in Community Hospice House at New Philadelphia following a brief illness.
Born September 28, 1927 at Strasburg, she was a daughter of the late William M. and Mila Machan Jones. Donna graduated from Bolivar High School, and, on June 30, 1946, married Ross R. Renner. The couple reared three children and shared forty-nine years of marriage before Ross' passing on October 17, 1995. Donna was employed by the J.C. Penney Co. for twenty-five years, much of that time as shoe department manager and buyer.
She was a faithful member of Dover Alliance Church, and was active in two bridge clubs for over forty-five years. Donna also loved to read and paint, and was known for her handmade quilts, which she often gave to family and friends.
Survivors include her son, Jay (Patty) Renner of Beverly; her two daughters, Sandra (James) O'Connor of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Sheryl (Vince) Monaco of Coto de Caza, California; her six grandchildren, Kevin R. (Jennifer) and Christopher J. Renner, Shannon J. (Kenny) Miller, Heather R. (Mike) Battaglia, Benjamin R. and Anthony B. Monaco; her step-grandchildren, Shane (Sheri), Shawn (Darcy) and Shannon (Angie) Wagner; her twenty great-grandchildren; her three great-great-grandchildren; her two sisters, June Richardson of Canton, and Elizabeth (George) Westbrook of Akron; her two brothers, Glenn (Phyllis) Jones of Gibsonia, Pennsylvania, and Allen (Sue) Jones of Mineral City; and her several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, and her beloved Ross, Donna was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Michelle McBroom; her great-granddaughter, Whitney McBroom; and her two brothers, MacDonald and Calvin Jones.
Family and friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover, on Monday, September 2, 4 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, September 3, at 11 a.m., in the funeral home, with Pastor Richard G. Rose officiating. Burial will be in Ridgecrest Memory Gardens, Dover. Following the committal, there will be a luncheon in the Dover Alliance Church.
