Donna Mastin, 62, of Dover, Ohio passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2018. Born November 1, 1955 in Dover, she was the daughter of Don and Maxine (Ashburn) Mastin. Donna graduated from Dover High School in 1974 where she was active in the choir, tennis, swimming, and theater. She had an excellent singing voice and very much enjoyed performing. She went on to do undergraduate work at Miami University. She later earned her Masters Degree in Clinical Social Work from the University of Maryland. She spent her early career working with troubled inner-city youth and their families in Baltimore and served in a similar capacity later in Columbus, Ohio. In between she served with a company doing event planning where she coordinated all aspects of conventions, trade shows, and the like. In her final career stop, she was a Clinical Social Worker at Riverside Hospital in Columbus.
Donna had several passions in her life. First and foremost was her love for her Heavenly Father. She had a life long love of Savior and Lord Jesus and that love directed much of the way she lived. Always helpful, always a kind word about others. She loved her church family and most recently was adopted by the Dover Alliance Church. Of course, she adopted them as well. Similarly, she had a second family at the Senior Center and had many good friends there. Another passion was her love of cats and dogs. Rescue pets, shelter pets, any dog or cat would be a cause for her to dive in and help or adopt. Finally, she never stopped talking about her friends. Whether someone she was currently spending time with or a classmate from long ago, she treasured those relationships. Finally she loved her Buckeyes and could recall plays and players at ease.
She will be missed by her family in her brothers, Scott (Angie), Steve (Becky) of Dover and Jim (Cathy) of Mansfield, her nieces, Emily, Abby, and Joy and her nephews Gabriel, Daniel and Jed.
A celebration of Donna’s life will be held Thursday, February 15 beginning at 8pm in the Dover Alliance Church. Friends may call at the church Thursday from 6-8pm.
