Doris J. Dunlap, 75, of Dover died peacefully in her home, surrounded by her family on Friday, January 13, 2006 following a 5-month battle with Lou Gehrig�(TM)s Disease.
Born April 12, 1930 in Dover she was a daughter of the late Hugh and Wilma Penrod Lindsay.
Doris was a 1948 graduate of Dover High School; she was instrumental in organizing the 1948 Lunch Bunch and was the chairman of every class reunion. She was active in the New Philadelphia Band Boosters and enjoyed collecting bells, sewing, baking and making crafts with her husband. Doris enjoyed life, and also loved her family, especially watching her grandchildren perform in the New Philadelphia High School Band.
Doris is survived by her husband, Richard Dunlap with whom she celebrated 55 years of marriage on October 1, 2005.
She is also survived by two daughters, Debbie (Jack) Sharp of New Philadelphia and Paula (Mark) Yarnell of New Philadelphia; two sisters, Margaret “Peggy” (Ramon) Class of Dover and Helen “Sis” Krause of New Philadelphia; four grandchildren, Missy Blank, Mindy (Josh) Limbacher, Erica Yarnell and Brent Yarnell; great grandson, Christopher Blank; brother in law, Glen (Donna) Dunlap of Dover; several nieces and nephews and special friends, Bill, Cheryl and Christie Graham of New Philadelphia.
She was also preceded in death by a brother in law, Robert Krause and a nephew, Mark Class.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 17, 2006 at 11:00 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory in Dover with Dr. William C. Haggis officiating. Interment will be at the Dover Burial Park. Friends can call at the funeral home on Monday from 4-7 pm.
